SSI for Behavioral Health Patients
Over the past several years, ARMDS has expanded our services to assist our clients in obtaining Medicaid for their behavioral and mental health patients. While patients with long-term behavioral health disabilities are generally eligible for supplemental security income (SSI) and social security disability (SSD), the eligibility and enrollment processes are lengthy and complicated. ARMDS’ close working relationship with SSA’s Disability Determination Services facilitates these processes, which can take anywhere from six months to well over two years. Our staff is kept up to date on changes in SSA’s disability programs and additions to the list of impairments that qualify patients for SSI benefits. ARMDS’ team of specialists is also highly trained on sensitivity with behavioral health patients. We currently provide screening and enrollment services for Behavioral Health Medicaid at Bergen Regional Medical Center, South Jersey Health System and all other client hospitals that provide mental health services to patients.
